It seems like vertical winglets poking up from the front of the car are all the rage this season.

Livery-wise, nothing too exciting from McLaren or Mercedes.

Vertical winglets on the front wing or on the nose?
The ones on the nose is the antenna.

No, that big thing between the wheels.

Yeah, that's the antenna. They just design them to cut through the air better now.

I'm not sure about the small tweaks to the Mercedes livery. The Petronas on the sidepods now has a more definitive edge to the green, whilst the black on the engine cover is blended. They should do one or the other, preferably the blended colours.

Design wise, I really like the Mercedes roll hoop intake. From the side it is angled, and you can see from the front how the airbox is separated. A lot of development there for sure.

But if that's the antenna, then what is the little black antenna-like thing closer to the cockpit? A second antenna?

Same here. If you'd enter something like that in one of our livery competitions, you wouldn't place very high. Generally speaking, F1 liveries are not very good when compared to other racing series; a fact that always amazes me.

I know sponsors dictate a lot of the livery, but there hasn't been anything interesting looking for a long time. Very true that the sport as a whole lacks a good livery. Given it is the sponsors, should expect to look to the back of the grid where sponsorship is slim for the best looking cars. Instead we get the likes of HRT... Hopefully Haas give us something decent today, though Ferrari might just take over that one too.

Yes, another antenna. One is for radio, the other is for data.

Also, I agree about the liveries. F1 liveries are always dictated by who bring the most $£¥ to the team, which tends to mean a pretty average design (in the grand scheme of Motorsport).

Speaking of HRT, they did produce one of my favourite liveries ever. There was no sponsor hassle for the reason that there were no sponsors.

And while we're on the subject, Super Aguri was also great in the livery business. I think they also had minimal sponsor interference. Then again, unless I remember wrong, it turned out that the company that was their main sponsor didn't actually exist...

Also Minardi, Jordan and Arrows produced some great liveries despite being backmarkers... or possibly because of it.

The livery looks slick! Very nice.
The car seems nice too. A good front wing, the package is reasonably tight, not too bad.
