My autocross adventures: get dirty or go home

Postby Pollie » 17 Jun 2015, 21:37

I had a topic at the old forum so I need one here.

The beginning:

back in 2009 a mate and I builded a ford siërra, he did the first race, my first race was in 2010 and I was a real backmarker. we shared that car a view years and had some fun at the back of the field. He stopped racing so I could drive every race. the car was falling apart so I decided it was time for another car.

2013:

After 2 races in the siërra I got myself a nice Opel Astra F 1.8 16v ecotec. had to do my home race whit it and it went well, did anonther race a view weeks later. In my home race the siërra also had is last race. I gave the keys to my brother and told him that I didn;t want it to look like this at the end of the day. and hey completed that task verry well. in the morning it didnt fit on the trailer. and at the end of the day there was about a meter space over.

2014:

this one started at the kingsday races (in my siërra time we had the queensday races) at my other regular track. a guy there told me about another nice race nearby. went there a view weeks later and went home whit my first prize (6th) overall it was a good season whit 7 races and some decent results. in the last 3 my starts where amazing and bad luck whit the tyres costed me a top 5 result (maybe even a podium)

me and my other brother at the start (he is in the renault number 46)

bad tyres ( I had to put in tubes but nobody ever told me to do so)

I also went to the nationals as a mechanic 5 times. one of the guys I helped finished 6th in the final standings of his class

I also wen to some events whit the guys that drive the nationals (and other cars)

2015:

I got my racing licence. before I had event licences. financialy this is better. and I only had a medical test to do.

the plan is to race a lot of races and go to all 6 nationals to help (he is going to be a title contender)

Did another race a view weeks ago.
Heat 1: perfect start from p1. after half a lap I was pushed around and they hit my right door. finished it on p5 or 6
Heat 2: amazing start from last place. p5 in first corner. someone was on his roof. red flag, second start was like the first one. after 3 or 4 laps someone pushed me and I landed on the driver side of my car. red flag. wasn't allowed to do the restart
heat 3: had to preform something to get the final. made it p5
waiting on final results to see if I had final. P14 and there were 15 spots in the final.

Final: there were already 2 cars missing on the startgrid, I had to push start a car. that car didn;t run well so there were only 12 cars at the start. I did my best but the car didn;t steer realy good to the left after the second crash. during the race I was counting retired cars around the track and figured out I was atleast at p8. went trough the ditch for 70 meter and lost about all my steering capacity. was lapped twice in a 12 lap race. but when final results came in I was 6th. there were some cars that move of the track and I didnt see that,

damage raport: 1 wishbone. 2 steering arms. 1 suspention strut 2 ball joints and the right side of the car looks like a banana
